Assistant Controller
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
Reports to: Chief Fiduciary Officer
Employment Type: Full-time, in office

Overview:
Peak Trust Company is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our finance team. As Assistant Controller, you will play a crucial role in assisting with financial reporting, budget management, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities: * Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Budget Management: Support the Controller in developing, monitoring, and analyzing budgets to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Account Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile general ledger accounts to maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data. Experience in general ledger work including detailed analysis, debits/credits, and reconciliation is essential for success in this role.
  • Internal Controls: Help establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful financial reports to management to support decision-making processes.
  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audit activities, including preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the finance department.
  • Tax Compliance: Support tax compliance efforts by preparing and filing tax returns, as well as ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data, resolve issues, and support business initiatives.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management to support the overall financial health of the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or pursuing CPA certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience in general ledger work including detailed analysis, debits/credits, and reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks); QuickBooks experience is required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to upholding ethical standards.
