Lake Toxaway is a private mountain community located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just minutes away from Cashiers, Highlands, and Brevard, North Carolina.

The Lake Toxaway community has a rich history that dates back to the early 1900s when prominent families retreated to the area to enjoy the unspoiled beauty of nature and company of friends and family.

Over 100 years later, the Lake Toxaway Country Club takes great pride in preserving the community's cherished traditions. During its eight-month season, the club is home to 450 families. In addition to golf, the club offers a wider variety of activities, including tennis, fitness, aquatic center, pickleball, croquet, rock climbing, ropes courses, and much more.

About the Position

The Assistant Controller reports directly to the CFO/Director of Finance and Accounting and is a critical member of the accounting department. The Assistant Controller ensures daily transactions are accurately recorded, participates in month-end closure, supports the accounts payable function, supports payroll processing, and participates in onboarding of new employees.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Must have the ability to communicate in English Self-starting personality with an even-tempered disposition. Analytical and technical skill required. Ability to apply commonsense understanding of accounting to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Bachelor's degree in related area. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A minimum of 2 years prior accounting experience in a club environment.

Preferred:

A minimum of 3 years accounting experience in a private club. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Proficient in club specific software.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours per day. Walking, stooping, and standing are occasionally required. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally. Use of hands to grab, move, lift, or feel objects, and use telephone and copier machine.
