This position works under the direction of the Financial Controller. The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting the Controller in managing the company's Financial Statements, General Ledger, Purchasing, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cost Accounting, and Tax Compliance.
Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements. Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Comfortable with intermediate to advanced MS-Excel reporting
Financial reporting duties include review and preparation of monthly Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statement, and Budget-to-Actual reporting
Understand all the Accounting Department functions and how they relate to the Overall Financial Statement Process
Prepare and post General Ledger Journal Entries & perform Account Review
Ensure the timely reconciliation of Bank, Loan, and Investment Accounts
Reconcile Employee Benefit GL Accounts and record Monthly Expense
Review and record financial contracts and financing or leasing agreements
Manage established collection procedures for Insurance Certificates on Subcontractors
Prepare and File Local, State and Federal government Tax Reporting Requirements
Assist in the annual CPA Review for Timberline Landscaping
Partner with the Controller to support and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing process
Continually review procedures to improve inefficiencies
Responsible for specified tasks as delegated by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Fun and casual office environment - Suit and tie NOT required
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend and lift/move up to 25 lbs.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership role, preferably in the commercial/residential landscaping industry, and/ or construction industry
Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and procedures
Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment). Working knowledge of Aspire and Sage software is preferred. Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills are desired
High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
Strong oral and written communication skills
Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license
Must pass background check consisting of Employment History, Personal/Professional References, and Criminal Record
