Assist in the administration of the Athletic Department's Sports Medicine Department that adheres to all University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations while providing a safe and accepting environment for coaches, staff, and student-athletes to grow and develop academically, athletically and encourages personal responsibility, sportsmanship, and service to others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Treats injuries and recommends medical attention for athletes injured in sporting events. Provides injury preventative education to athletes and coaches and also provides rehabilitation of injuries through nutrition counseling and/or physical activities.
Prepares necessary paperwork related to injury reports, insurance reports, training manuals, and budget needs. Organizes student athlete physicals prior to sport participation and maintains student athlete medical files.
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Education - A college degree or four to eight years of work experience in a related field
Experience - Two years to five years (Equivalent combination of education and employment).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, masters preferred. Minimum 1-2 years' experience with college athletics required, Division I preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Well-polished communication and interpersonal skills; excellent leadership and motivational skills; willing and able to drive 15 passenger vans.
Physical Requirements
ob requires repetitively lifting light weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities.
Work Environment
Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid Driver's License; BOC Certified Athletic Trainer; State of Michigan Athletic Training License; American Red Cross First Aid Certification.
Salary/Pay Information
Commensurate with experience
Anticipated Schedule
Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 5 pm, with evenings and weekends as necessary.
