We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory reporting requirements.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Perform bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation activities to maintain accurate financial records.
Support month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial report writing.
Conduct detailed financial analysis, cash flow analysis, and account analysis to identify discrepancies or areas for process improvement.
Maintain and update accounting QuickBooks
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial management activities to support organizational planning.
Support internal audits by providing documentation and explanations related to financial transactions; ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving regulatory compliance, non-profit accounting (if applicable), or governmental accounting standards.
Contribute to continuous process improvements by recommending best practices in financial report interpretation and financial statement preparation.
Requirements
Proficiency in QuickBooks
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports and perform detailed financial analysis.
Experience with account reconciliation processes including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation.
Ability to perform journal entries accurately while maintaining double entry bookkeeping integrity.
Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and report writing; experience with other financial tools like Sage or PeopleSoft is desirable.
Knowledge of tax experience related to payroll or other tax regulations is advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to mentor colleagues or interns in technical aspects of accounting and finance concepts.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
