The starting salary range for this position is $29.86 - $34.34, depending on qualifications
The focus of this position is mid-level work involving professional clerical, financial, research, and analytical tasks. The work is performed under the Assessment and Property Tax Manager or designee. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.
This position is an Essential classification and will be required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Keeps the mission, vision, and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintains high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.
  • Performs clerical duties of a technical nature relating to the special assessments and property taxes.
  • Gathers, compiles, and maintains information on matters related to property revisions within all special assessment districts.
  • Researches issues with assessment billing with the St. Lucie County Tax Collector and St. Lucie County Property Appraiser's Office.
  • Prepares and analyzes a variety of reports and spreadsheets.
  • Analyzes and interprets St. Lucie County Tax Collector distributions & prepare journal entries.
  • Responds to inquiries from outside agencies, taxpayers, and title companies.
  • Assists with research on annual roll preparation and fiscal year end processes.
  • Assists with maintaining all special assessment rolls handled by the City.
  • Researches approved plats and prepares E&I's (Errors & Insolvencies) as needed.
  • Researches and prepares reimbursements, utilizing the City's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, related to interlocal agreements and contracts.
  • Research collections received from various interlocal agreements and contracts.
  • Reviews tax information on closing statements provided by the City Attorney's Office, as needed.
  • May serve as back-up in other locations of the department to cover staff shortages.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field required. Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience, including bookkeeping, clerical, and customer service required. Experience in real estate tax preferred.

  • Skill and proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
