Job Description

SUMMARY





Responsible for the management of an assigned production unit, department, function, or group. Directs activities through subordinate supervisors to attain production goals consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.


KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)




Safety- Company targets with department goals per yearly approved KPIs. Quality- Company targets with department goals per yearly approved KPIs. Production- Company targets with department goals per yearly approved KPIs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS




Monitor a manufacturing team to ensure operations are in compliance with health and safety standards. Oversee the hiring, orienting, and on the job training of technical production employees to ensure work is being performed in accordance with company specifications and procedures. Analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems. Partner with the quality department to ensure product quality and specification are consistent. Oversee the regulation of work shift to ensure proper workload distribution. Plans, directs, and monitors all production activities within an assigned area or unit to maximize the use of the organization's resources and meet established production specifications and schedules, volume, cost, waste targets, and quality standards. Develops and implements manufacturing schedules and procedures and allocate labor and capital resources to maximize productivity. Analyzes production, maintenance, and malfunction records to identify problems and recommend solutions that will improve performance. Liaises with functional or operational area managers to understand their current and future product needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities. Leads, directs, evaluates, and develops a team of supervisors who are responsible for various production activities such as assembly, machine operation, fabrication, or packaging. Reviews and establishes material, equipment, and manpower resources requirements. Recommends departmental standards and practices. Coordinates production activities with other functions such as materials, marketing, new product development, customer service, manufacturing engineering and quality.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE





Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, Engineering degree is a plus; and four years of manufacturing production leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a proven track record of effectively managing quality, safety, and staff.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS




Strong manufacturing operations knowledge Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficient with Microsoft office and applicable software programs Familiarity with Kaizen, 5 "S", and lean manufacturing programs/processes Strong interpersonal skills Ability to read blueprint and technical drawings Ability to direct, lead, evaluation and coach staff Strong working knowledge of ERP Systems

Is accountable for the performance and results of a team within own discipline or function. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures, and business plan; receives guidance from senior manager. Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.



PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS



Manufacturing:




Works predominantly on the manufacturing floor. May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc. Climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing and ability to move material weighing up to 40 lbs. Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment. Ability to use of hand tools, power tools, gas torches and measuring instruments. Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment. Requires standing for prolonged periods of time . Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination Must be able to walk and use hands. Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate effectively.
