Job Description

Position Summary:

The Asphalt Plant Laborer plays a key support role within the Flynn Brothers Contracting asphalt production team. This position assists with daily plant operations, general labor duties, and routine maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production. The Asphalt Plant Laborer works closely with Plant Operators, Mechanics, and Trucking personnel to support Flynn Brothers' commitment to quality, safety, and dependable service.

Key Responsibilities:

Plant Operations & Labor Support

Assist with day-to-day plant operations to help ensure steady and efficient production. Perform general labor tasks including shoveling, sweeping, and cleaning designated plant areas. Support safe truck flow by directing traffic, cleaning loadout areas, and assisting drivers as needed. Load, move, or stage materials to support production and site organization.

Maintenance & Equipment Support

Assist with routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs under the direction of the Plant Operator or Mechanic. Conduct basic inspections and promptly report any equipment concerns or safety hazards. Maintain tools and equipment in clean, working conditions.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all Flynn Brothers safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements at all times. Maintain awareness of plant hazards including hot materials, moving equipment, and elevated surfaces. Assist with spill cleanup, environmental compliance tasks, and general housekeeping to ensure a safe work environment. Participate in safety meetings and support FBC's culture of safety excellence.

Other Duties

Support plant operations during downtime, maintenance outages, or production changes. Assist plant personnel and supervisors with additional tasks as assigned. Represent Flynn Brothers Contracting in a professional and respectful manner.

Qualifications:

Previous labor experience in asphalt, construction, or industrial settings preferred. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and environmental conditions (heat, dust, noise). Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn plant processes. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding, repetitive labor. Must have dependable transportation and be available for extended hours during peak season.

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

Basic understanding of hand and power tools. Experience working around heavy equipment such as loaders or skid steers. Familiarity with asphalt production or aggregate handling.

Work Environment:

Outdoor, fast-paced environment with exposure to hot materials and machinery. Overtime, nights, and weekend work may be required based on production needs.

Pay: $20.00 - $29.32 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
