Job Description

Position Summary:



The Area Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and enforcing a culture of safety across assigned locations. This role will conduct routine and random inspections focused on driver compliance, vehicle readiness, and site safety practices at multiple sites. The coordinator will also deliver corrective action training, identify and document safety violations, and work closely with operations teams to ensure compliance with all company policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:



Conduct random pre-trip, post-trip and driver inspections to ensure driver compliance with safety procedures and DOT regulations.

Perform routine site audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe behaviors, and violations of safety protocols.

Facilitate and document corrective action training for drivers found in non-compliance during inspections or incident reviews.

Investigate safety incidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective measures.

Maintain detailed records of audits, inspections, training, and violations for internal and external reporting.

Serve as a liaison between field operations and the safety department to promote consistent implementation of safety policies.

Monitor and enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe operational practices at all sites.

Assist with safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety education programs.

Support new driver onboarding with safety training and orientation.

Qualifications:



High school diploma or GED required;

1 year experience in the Transportation industry

Previous Commercial driving experience, or experience with DOT regulations in a Safety related field is preferred.

Detail-oriented with Strong communication and coaching skills to effectively train and support the operation.

Working Conditions:



Field-based position with daily travel between company sites.

Requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions. May involve physical activity, including climbing, bending, and lifting equipment as needed
