Architectural Designers (Senior Living), SmithGroup, Inc., sub. of SmithGroup Co., Inc., 301 Battery Street, 4th Floor, San Francisco, CA:
The Architectural Designer (Senior Living) prepares architectural drawings, renderings and design assignments, programming and planning for senior living communities, under general supervision of a senior licensed Architect. He or she receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and independently provides solutions for these objectives. Job duties performed under general supervision include:


Performs architectural assignments under general supervision. Coordinates drawings with drawings of other disciplines. Coordinates specifications with drawings to meet project requirements. Relates building design concepts to building codes, zoning ordinances, senior living licensing agencies, and other external issues. Assists on consulting with manufacturers, researches and proposes materials and products that are acceptable in senior care environments. Participates in construction administration including responding to RFI's, preparing sketches and addendums (CCD's), visiting the construction site to gather information, prepare punch lists, and answer contractor questions as owner's representative. Advances designs developed by others and creates and develops planning and design concepts for small, senior living projects under general supervision. Assists with assessment of design requirements, including licensing requirements for Residential Care and Skilled Nursing Facilities. Details internal features of a building. Has knowledge of basic drawing details and researches more complex details. Prepares presentation drawings and otherwise assists in presentations both internally and externally. Regularly works with design software (CAD, Revit, Sketchup, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office. Telecommuting is permitted, 2 days a week.




Minimum requirement: is a bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in architecture, or a closely related architecture or design field of study and 2 years of experience in any related occupation working on architectural and senior living design. Basic annual pay range is ninety-five thousand dollars to one hundred thousand dollars per year for full-time employment and standard company benefits.
