The

Appraisal Support Specialist

is responsible for supporting the appraisal process from order placement through delivery, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution of issues. This role serves as a key point of contact for brokers, appraisers, and internal staff, providing expert guidance on appraisal requirements, form types, and loan program guidelines. The ideal candidate has deep mortgage industry experience, strong appraisal knowledge, and the ability to manage escalations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities



Manage and support appraisal orders within the company's appraisal ordering system Review appraisal orders for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with loan program and property type requirements Demonstrate strong understanding of appraisal form types (e.g., 1004, 1025, 1073, etc.) based on loan programs and property types Assist brokers and internal teams with appraisal-related questions, issues, and escalations Communicate effectively with appraisers, appraisal management companies (AMCs), brokers, and internal stakeholders Track appraisal status, follow up on delays, and ensure timely delivery Identify and resolve appraisal issues while maintaining compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines Utilize Encompass to review loan files and ensure appraisal data is accurately reflected Support process improvements related to appraisal ordering and tracking

Requirements:
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the mortgage industry Strong working knowledge of residential appraisals and appraisal form types by loan program and property type Experience handling appraisal escalations and issue resolution Proficiency with Encompass LOS (preferred but not required) Experience working in an appraisal ordering system ( Valuelink or other similar systems) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Prior experience in appraisal desk, appraisal review, or appraisal coordination roles Familiarity with investor guidelines (Non-QM, DSCR

Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA) Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Appraisal process expertise Problem-solving and escalation management Customer service mindset for broker and internal support Time management and prioritization Strong technical and system navigation skills
