Job Title: Animal Research Manager Location: Davis, CA Classification: Regular, Full-Time Reports to: President Janel Life Sciences: Janel Life Sciences is a division of Janel Corporation, a New York-based, publicly-traded private equity firm that operates in three segments: Logistics, Life Sciences, and Manufacturing. Janel Life Sciences acquires small privately-owned scientific reagent companies selected based on their strong reputation in the industry and potential for growth and synergy with our other holdings. Collectively our group of companies is well known in the industry for its antibody products, antibody services, and related scientific reagents. Summary: The Animal Research Manager for Janel Life Sciences will work out of our DAVIS CA location which is home to all but one of our Life Sciences subsidiary companies. The Animal Research Manager will have solid hands-on experience caring for, handling, and administering injections and blood draws for both large and small animals. We work with a variety of species including: mice, rabbits, chickens, goats, and alpacas primarily for antibody development but also for pre-clinical work. In addition to having a strong foundation in procedural work with lab animals, the candidate should also be able and motivated to provide leadership to the Lab Animal Group including: managing projects, overseeing staff and their training, and generally ensuring that the Lab Animal Department is efficiently run. Essential Functions include: \xc2\xb7 Managing projects and working collaboratively with other departments to ensure successful project completion \xc2\xb7 Supervising two lab animal technicians and husbandry technicians to ensure project and daily tasks are completed \xc2\xb7 Communicating with clients to plan projects and keep them informed of progress \xc2\xb7 Overseeing the care and health of all animals in collaboration with our attending veterinarian \xc2\xb7 Serving as the IACUC Chairperson and organizing IACUC activities. \xc2\xb7 Hosting USDA and supplier audits as needed. \xc2\xb7 Drafting and updating standard operating procedures Work Environment: This job involves contact with a variety of different animal species in addition to the office-based work.
