Weekly transports depending on transport load. Typical transports leave Houston on Tuesday or Thursday morning and return two days later.
Position Summary
The Driver is responsible for safely operating RPM transport vehicles in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as RPM's Driving Policy. This includes caring for animals during transit, ensuring vehicle cleanliness and maintenance, and representing RPM professionally while on the road.
Key Responsibilities
Operate RPM vehicles safely and lawfully at all times, following all traffic, safety, and animal handling regulations.
Load and unload animals and supplies with care and efficiency.
Monitor animal health and behavior throughout transport, reporting abnormalities to the Lead Driver or Executive Director.
Feed, water, and walk animals at scheduled intervals during long transports.
Clean and maintain vehicles, crates, and equipment before, during, and after trips.
Record and maintain accurate vehicle maintenance, mileage, and driver logs.
Participate in general facility cleaning and assist staff and volunteers when needed.
Follow RPM's Driving Policy and all applicable PACFA guidelines.
Maintain professionalism and uphold RPM's mission at all times.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of vehicle maintenance and/or commercial driving experience preferred.
Animal handling experience highly recommended.
Familiarity with long-distance or commercial transport operations is a plus.
Licensing:
Valid U.S. driver's license with a
clean driving record
.
No major accidents or points on record within the last five (5) years.
Must be insurable under RPM's vehicle policy.
Screening:
A
background and driving record check
will be performed prior to contracting.
Any driver with a poor driving history or record that increases RPM's insurance costs
will be automatically declined.
Do not apply if you have a history of bad driving.
Skills:
Strong attention to safety, detail, and animal welfare.
Ability to perform physical labor (lifting 50-150 lbs., bending, cleaning, climbing steps).
Excellent communication, reliability, and problem-solving abilities.
Work Conditions
Extended driving shifts, including overnight trips and exposure to animals in confined spaces.
Frequent exposure to weather extremes, road hazards, and zoonotic diseases.
Requires lifting, bending, and handling animals of varying sizes and temperaments.

Base Pay: $300.00 - $600.00 per day
