Animal Care Technician

The Animal Care Technician, working as part of a small but dedicated team, is responsible for the day-to-day animal care of high-health domestic pigs.

We are a small team, so you can also expect to learn and contribute in many different areas including, but not limited to, breeding and farrowing, surgery and necropsy procedures, equipment and facility maintenance and documentation preparation.

Education, Experience & Skills

Large animal husbandry experience (but candidate cannot reside on or near a swine farm) Positive attitude Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Effective oral and written communication skills Aptitude for learning and continuous improvement Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Excel) a plus An appreciation of good documentation practices and statistics Preference will be given to candidates with swine husbandry and production experience or a degree in Biology, Animal Science or related scientific fields, demonstrated mechanical aptitude, or prior experience working in GMP-compliant facilities and/or FDA-regulated environments

Additional criteria

Weekdays and alternating weekend shifts Must be able to lift 50 lbs Must be capable of tolerating normal farm odors and noise levels while using personal protective equipment. Any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and health/safety screening required due to stringent site biosecurity
