Job Description

General Scope:

Provides quality basic and behavioral care for SICSA resident animals, in accordance with SICSA's policies and procedures.

Essential Function/Major Responsibilities:

Provide basic husbandry for in-custody animals per SICSA animal care and disease management protocols. This includes feeding, walking dogs, cleaning cat litter boxes, and cleaning and disinfecting kennels and supplies. Carry out designated health care programs for specific animals as directed by the staff veterinarians and Animal Care Manager. Provide regular feedback to the Animal Care Manager and veterinarians regarding changes in animal health and behavior. Provide appropriate environmental enrichment for all animals onsite as directed by the Animal Care Manager to ensure the emotional and mental well-being of our animals, which will enhance their adoptability. Carry out designated behavior modification programs as directed by the Animal Care Manager. Provide support for volunteers working with SICSA animals. Assist the public during open hours. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Licenses Required:

High school diploma Valid Ohio driver's license

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and manipulate (lift, carry, and move) up to 50 pounds. Ability to be around animals of varying sizes and temperament in, occasionally, noisy environments. Responsible for presenting a neat and professional appearance to the public at all times.
