The Ancillary Services Supervisor supports the mission of Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital (SSMH) by assuring the provision of quality, efficient and compassionate patient care.

Essential Job Functions:
Collaborate with the health care team and provide project management support with organizational strategic goals and initiatives to advance patient care services and operating practices at SSMH. Values patient safety, security and wellness above all else while ensuring patient satisfaction and processes that work for front-line caregivers.
Focus on providing evidence-based, best practice care within clinical areas of the organization with emphasis on advanced clinical processes and minor surgical services.
Work closely with case management to ensure all components of patient preparation and education are completed pre and post procedure intervention. At the physician's direction, coordinate and deliver patient care for IV procedural sedation and recovery, including supervision of staff involved in the process. Oversee supply and equipment management.
Assist medical staff office with any needed credentialing support of medical staff and other duties as assigned.
Lead and/or participate in quality improvement initiatives related to maternal and newborn outcomes.
Ensure adherence to evidence-based protocols and patient safety standards.
Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
Oversee daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department to ensure timely and accurate sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
Assign, monitor, and adjust staff workloads and priorities to meet surgical and procedural schedules.
Provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to sterile processing technicians.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the operating room (OR), endoscopy, and other clinical departments regarding instrumentation needs and processing timelines.
Certification/Licensure:
Current Alaska RN license within six (6) months of hire.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required or within one year of employment
Minimum of 5 years nursing experience in a high acuity hospital environment, including the provision of direct patient care.
Supervisory and management experience preferred.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Advanced critical decision-making capabilities and a flexible approach with change management activities and duties as the organization progresses toward higher states of complexity and sophistication.
Knowledge of project management with the ability to implement and adapt techniques, processes, and procedures to improve work flows that ensure patient safety.
Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations and Joint Commission standards applicable to services provided within SSMH.
Well-organized with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills that maintain a healthy, collaborative team environment.
Detail oriented and ability to manage workflow by delegating and assigning project tasks as indicated.
Ability to analyze and adopt operating practices to improve facility operations and efficiency.
Ensures accountability for the continual delivery of high-quality care and identifies barriers to project performance.
