Position: Track Laborer-Kansas

###

Job Overview

###

The Track Laborer is responsible for performing general labor duties as part of a team focused on track projects, including construction, maintenance, inspections, and service. This position involves hands-on work to ensure the proper functioning and safety of railroad track systems.

###

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

###

Drive spikes into the track structure.

###

Move and set cross ties and lengths of steel rail.

###

Shovel and distribute stone ballast as needed.

###

Adjust and lubricate switches.

###

Tighten track bolts to maintain proper track integrity.

###

Check track gauge and cross level to ensure safety and compliance.

###

Carry track jacks (approximately 40 lbs.) for track adjustments.

###

Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

###

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

###

Education and/or Experience

###

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

###

Military experience is a plus.

###

Language Skills

###

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

###

Mathematical Skills

###

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

###

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.

Ability to handle typical issues related to track maintenance.

Regularly required to talk and hear.

Must be able to regularly lift and/or move heavy weights.
