Title: AmeriCorps Seniors Recruitment and Compliance Specialist
Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $21 - $23/hour, depending on experience
Location: Statewide (counties covered by UServeUtah include: Salt Lake, Box Elder, Cache, Carbon, Emery, Grand, Juab, Millard, Piute, Rich, San Juan, Sanpete, Sevier, Summit, Tooele, Wasatch and Wayne); frequent coordination required in Salt Lake County)
Return Utah
The Return Utah program is a formal career reentry program, designated for Utahns reentering the workforce after a career break. The program is tied to the state job you are applying for meaning that along with a new role and traditional on-the-job training, candidates hired will receive 16 weeks of transitional support (which includes an office technology review, coaching, career development opportunities, mentorship, networking opportunities and job market readiness training).
To be eligible for Return Utah, candidates must:
Have prior professional/life experience and/or qualifying skills suitable for the job's functional area of interest and,
A career break of one year or more at the time of application or,
Confirm military affiliation (as a service member, veteran, spouse or partner) or,
Be underemployed at the time of application.
This is a long-term, Time-Limited (TL) 1-year temporary position that extends beyond the 16-week Return Utah program with the potential to be extended depending on funding.
Position Summary
UServeUtah is seeking an AmeriCorps Seniors Recruitment and Compliance Specialist. This individual will be responsible for recruiting Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion volunteers for UServeUtah AmeriCorps Seniors programs. The selected individual will be responsible for supporting recruited volunteers through the application, enrollment process, and onboarding. The specialist will also support UServeUtah's AmeriCorps Seniors programs by engaging in program compliance (e.g. site visits and volunteer interviews). The specialist will need to develop a solid understanding of the AmeriCorps Seniors federal regulations. The specialist will cover a wide range of communities throughout the state of Utah. The specialist will be a key member of the entire UServeUtah AmeriCorps Seniors team as the first point of contact for interested volunteers.
Principal Duties As the AmeriCorps Seniors Recruitment and Compliance Specialist you will:
Develop and implement recruiting strategies to attract eligible older adult volunteers
Conduct outreach activities in communities throughout the service area, including tabling at events, hosting informational sessions, and organic community interactions
Establish and maintain positive relationships with community partners such as senior centers, faith-based organizations, and nonprofit organizations
Manage the application process by helping interested and eligible volunteers complete an online application, go through the fingerprinting process, and submit all necessary documentation
Screen and interview potential volunteers to assess their qualifications, interest, and ability to serve impactfully
Train volunteers on the computer program they will use to complete timesheets and provide follow-up support as needed
Conduct compliance monitoring visits to Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion stations
Follow-up with volunteers to ensure they are following program regulations
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone with:
Passion for connecting with older adults and getting to know them and their interests
Solid organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through in an independent and responsible manner
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups
Excellent written and verbal communication and computer skills
Ability and willingness to travel frequently to various locations throughout the state (from Cache County to San Juan County, with most time spent in Salt Lake County)
Preferences
Preference may be given to those with experience working with AmeriCorps or AmeriCorps Seniors programs.
Job Series
The selected candidate for this position will be brought in as a Program Specialist I with a salary range of $20.36 to $34.98 with the possibility of a promotion to a Program Specialist II with a salary range of $24.60 to $36.94. Employee will be hired for this position as a Program Specialist I, $21-$23 starting wage an hour, depending on experience.
