General Description for this position:





Engage members in programs and services of Amarillo Town Club by teaching, advising, and motivating. Assist members in achieving fitness goals.



Perform facility operation activities related to fitness services, housekeeping, youth activities, aquatics activities, and pools. Includes the following, but is not limited to, membership relations, product sales and services, food services, point of sale activities, and coordination of services with other departments. (constantly)

a. Schedule and complete fitness consultations from online, e-mail, phone calls and in person requests.

b. Return phone calls made to the fitness department help line.

c. Teach and assist with classes as needed.

d. Demonstrate the correct way to use exercise equipment to members.

e. Monitor and correct misuse of exercise equipment.

f. Monitor areas of the facility to maintain order and enforce policies.

g. Engage and interact with members throughout the gym to determine fitness needs. Discuss and promote classes, programs, and personal training.

h. Conduct Youth Lift and Youth Fit as necessary.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Lead and organize group and individual exercise programs to help people improve their health and fitness.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

College education in a fitness-related field preferred. Work experience and certifications can be considered.


EXPERIENCE:

Candidates should have work experience in a fitness related field. Experience in a customer services related field or fitness field is preferred. Experience with personnel work schedules, sales, business office processes are all preferential skill sets.


SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

A nationally recognized certification in personal training, group exercise, or college equivalent education is required. Supreme coaching skills, and understanding of group fitness management, superlative communication and ability to deliver effective and inspiring feedback. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Individual must be able to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information related to membership and employee situations.


PHYSICAL/SPECIAL DEMANDS:



1. Must be able to tolerate and demonstrate safe body mechanics and strong athletic movement, including kneeling, bending, stooping, crawling, and twisting.

2. Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs., move up to 315 lbs. with assistance, and position self to reach up to 7 ft.

3. Must be able to walk and stand up to 85% of an 8-hour workday.

4. Must exhibit good organizational, numerical, alphabetical, reading and writing skills.

5. Must be able to problem solve and respond quickly and calmly in a stressful situations.

6. Must be able to hear to and/or respond to telephone, overhead intercom, employee and customer inquiries and in turn communicate effectively with employees and customers.

7. Visual acuity required to read reports, and for the monitoring of members/guest, including their operation and use of Amarillo Town Club equipment.

8. Cognitive skills required of reasoned interpretation of assessment and in all programs needs along with good coordination and fine motor skills in grasping, adjusting controls and typing on computers.

9. Ability to move about the facility, including ascending/descending 22 steps up to 10 times daily.

10. Possible exposure to clients with infections conditions.
