Alaska Overview

ConocoPhillips is Alaska\xe2\x80\x99s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1.2 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2022. The company produced an average 200 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2022. ConocoPhillips has major ownership interests in two of North America\xe2\x80\x99s largest legacy conventional oil fields, both located on Alaska\xe2\x80\x99s North Slope: Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips operates several fields on the Western North Slope. Significant oil exploration and development opportunities still exist on the North Slope, with active programs underway in the Kuparuk River, Colville River, Greater Mooses Tooth and Bear Tooth units. More than 75% of the company\xe2\x80\x99s North Slope exploration portfolio is undrilled.

Description

The Construction Supervisor is a specialist knowledgeable of all aspects of construction installation methodology and contract management who supports the planning, readiness, and execution of construction campaigns. In addition, the Construction Supervisor possesses a specialized skillset in at least one aspect of the construction industry: Civil (Ice & Gravel), Structural (Steel Erection & Fabrication), Mechanical (Piping and HVAC Systems), or Electrical & Instrumentation. The Construction Supervisor(s) work with the Construction Engineer(s) and construction contractors during the planning (FEL2+) and execution of discrete construction campaigns for one or more projects.

This position can function either as North Slope based (working a rotational schedule of 2 weeks on/2 weeks off) or based in the Anchorage office with trips to the field as needed for surveys, walkdowns, ad hoc troubleshooting, etc., during the planning phases, and rotational schedules during the field execution of construction campaigns. The Construction Supervisor acts as the onsite single point of contact during the execution phase and supervises the onsite Project Management Team (PMT). The Construction Supervisor leads the construction readiness process, validates the construction schedule, Construction Execution Plan (CEP), and development of the Field Install Work Packs (FIWPs).

This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Demonstrate active and visible support for Incident-Free Culture (IFC) principles. Conduct IFC workshops, as needed
  • Support the Human Performance principles and becoming a better Learning Organization by understanding/learning from the employees who conduct the work
  • Ensure all files, information, e-mail, etc. comply with COPA document and records management (DRM) policy
  • Fully utilize CPMS AK standards and practices on all projects appropriate with project size and risk
  • Implement the ConocoPhillips Construction Management Plan for all assigned projects
  • Validate and approve associated fabrication/construction scopes of work for contract call-offs and ensure development of the construction execution plan with contracting partners
  • Supervise the Construction Engineer(s) in planning and ensuring readiness for a discrete campaign, i.e., field installation work packs, material management & logistics, small fabrication, camps & aviation, temporary equipment, provision of laydown space, etc.
  • Participate in project risk sessions and lead development of construction-related risk mitigations
  • Review construction contractor schedules and estimates, integrating with materials management, engineering, and other functions to ensure feasibility
  • Coordinate with the Delivery function to implement the Construction Completions and Handover process (CPMSAK-CON-PR-AK704)
  • Monitor execution cost and schedule progress in the field relative to the baseline set during the planning phase, identifying problems early and influencing the contractor to put in place mitigation/recovery plans
  • Participate on the Incident Management Team as required and attend IMT Trainings and annual exercises
Qualifications

Basic/Required:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
  • 7+ years of experience supporting construction of oil and gas facilities on the Alaskan North Slope or similar arctic environment.
  • 5+ years of experience with construction management, cost reporting and schedule analysis
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of construction industry codes, standards, and methodologies
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel up to 50% on an annual basis to the North Slope and ability to transition from town-based to North Slope rotational schedule as required to support the safe and successful execution of assigned campaigns
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work in a remote work location on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off work schedule if role is slope assigned
Preferred:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or other related technical degree or foreign equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience supporting construction of oil and gas facilities on the Alaskan North Slope or similar arctic environment
  • Advanced level of experience with ice road construction & maintenance and working on seasonal ice surface along with North Slope module fabrication and transportation
  • Advanced level communication and technical writing skills
  • Knowledge of ConocoPhillips\xe2\x80\x99s Specifications and Guidelines
  • North Slope drill site and facility construction (mechanical and E&I) experience
