ALARM TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION



Job Title:

Alarm Technician

Wage/Hour Status:

$30.00 to $40.00 / 40hrs (overtime as necessary)

Master Electrician

Primary Purpose:



Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for residential and commercial sites. Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, and related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans. Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, and video cameras, attach electrical and telephone wiring in order to connect components or connect to wireless devices.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:



Security Systems

1. Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, or related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.

2. Install and repair electrical components, equipment, or systems.
3. Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, or video cameras and attach electrical and telephone wiring to connect components.
4. Install electrical components, equipment, or systems.
5. Position equipment using hand tools, power tools, or heavy equipment
6. Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
7. Test and repair electrical circuits or wireless components for proper functioning.
8. Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, or other security features to ensure proper functioning or to diagnose malfunctions.

Electrical

1. Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.

2. Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc.

3. Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.

Other Duties:

1. Keep informed of new products and developments.
2. Document operational activities.
3. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
4. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
5. Respond to emergency calls as needed.
6. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
7. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.

Qualifications:



Education/ Experience/Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent Five years' experience in electrical and/or security field A combination of experience and completion of an apprenticeship or training program in the electrical/security area sufficient to equal five years' experience. Valid Rhode Island driver's license Must pass a background check and drug screening Valid Rhode Island Journey Electricians License - Preferred
Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to perform mathematical calculations Ability to diagnose and resolve problems Ability to use hand and power tools Able to work independently Excellent customer service skills

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
