General Description and Classification Standards

Under general direction of the Hartsfield - Jackson Atlanta International Airport (HJAIA) Emergency Management Director of the IOC, the Emergency Management Accreditation Manager serves as the Emergency Management Accreditation Manager to lead the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA\xc2\xae) accreditation program and the Emergency Management Accreditation Program.

Duties include researching federal and state certification/standards, identifying, and developing procedures for maintaining Accreditation; recommending improvements to departmental operations, and programs to ensure retention of earned accreditations; ensuring that all standards are maintained throughout the year for accreditation programs; endure training documents and standard operating procedures remain updated and accurate in accordance with the accreditation program standards.

The EM Accreditation Manager involves the administrative work, management, planning and coordination of Emergency Management activities, including drafting and maintaining the EM Bureau\'s policies, standard operating guidelines, collection of documentation for accreditation standards, and coordinating and conducting required inspections. Ensures compliance with the CALEA, APCO, and EMAP standards, rules, and regulations; possesses the ability to plan, direct and coordinate the work of professional and support personnel involved in Accreditation activities and/or the submission of CALEA, APCO, and EMAP Outcome Measures; possess the ability to formulate plans necessary in accomplishing Accreditation and departmental goals.

Supervision Received

Works under general supervision of the Assistant General Manager of Emergency Management. May work independently or with other skilled or semi-skilled workers with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned. Works with the Accreditation team in order to certify that the AOC and Emergency Management programs achieves and remains officially accredited. Coordinates with applicable units for implementation of standards and coordination of standards.

Applies organizational policies. Selects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks. Establishes work methods, timetables, performance standards, etc.

Leadership Provided

Routinely provides work group leadership, guidance, and/or training to less experienced staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list. Knowledge of: policies, procedures, and activities of a communication center and Emergency Management processes.;

Skill in: listening and communicating exceptionally to effectively convey information verbally and in writing; organizational, human relations and technical understanding. Ability to: compile, organize, prepare and maintain an assortment of records, reports and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations; communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members, medical and mental health staff, jail management system staff and other departmental stakeholders/vendors; use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations; utilize and understand computer applications and techniques necessary in the completion of daily and specialized assignments; plan, organize and prioritize daily/specialized assignments and work activities; comprehend and apply regulations and procedures of the bureau.
