Performs as a ALSS Mechanic at VMGR-252 aboard MCAS Cherry Point with a diverse and knowledgeable background maintaining KC-130J aircraft system, ALSS components, Aircrew survival equipment, and personal flight equipment for the Customer; perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing or related structures of the KC-130J aircraft.
Inspect and maintain ALSS equipment and Aircrew survival equipment in accordance with naval aviation manuals.
Identify and repair discrepancies to ALSS equipment and Aircrew survival equipment as required by naval aviation manuals.
Document all maintenance performed utilizing the Optimized Organization Maintenance Activity (OOMA) system.
Maintain and develop liaison between the Squadron and MALS-14 for issuing and receiving required ALSS equipment and Aircrew flight gear components.
Screen component records for proper implementation of technical directives as required.
Provide in depth training to the mechanics within the squadron on the associated ALSS equipment utilized in the squadron.
Obtain and maintain all required support equipment licenses to perform assigned maintenance task assigned.
Perform inspections and duties as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) as required.
Job Requirements
KC-130 ALSS Mechanic Training (MOS 6048) and associated "C" school training or equivalent civilian qualifications or certificates (A&P license).
Shall have the ability perform complex O-level maintenance actions.
Must possess a level of experience necessary to inspect and sign off work in all assigned aircraft systems.
Must complete and maintain an Explosive Drivers physical.
Must meet and pass the AA&E Screening checklist annually.
Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent.
Be a U.S. citizen.
If a Veteran, must have earned an honorable discharge (preferred) but no less than a General discharge under Honorable conditions.
Possess a good knowledge of squadron organization and functions and be able to communicate and interact effectively with others.
Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
Possess a valid state driver's license, obtain, and maintain base access.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment (ADA): May be required to work in areas in the hangar and on the flightline that are noisy and dusty. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. May be required to wear personal protective equipment, when applicable.
