About the Role



We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Swanton Elementary After School Site Coordinator. You will be responsible for the daily operations, staff supervision, program development, and overall success of our after school program, serving 75+ children in grades 1-6 each day. Key Responsibilities



The Swanton Elementary After School Site Coordinator role is dynamic and multifaceted, requiring balanced effort across program operation, administration, staff management, and community relations. The duties are primarily focused on the day-to-day success and quality of the after-school program, broken down as follows:

Program Operation (40%)

The majority of your time is dedicated to overseeing programs in session Monday through Thursday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM when school is in session (with a hybrid/remote schedule during school breaks and one month of all-day in-person programming in the summer). You are responsible for ensuring that all programs have a warm and welcoming environment and adhere to safety procedures, while also actively building strong relationships with students, families, the school, and the wider community.

Administrative Oversight & Compliance (30%)

A significant portion of the role involves critical administrative and compliance duties:

Administrative Oversight of Student Information (20%): This includes the detailed work of grant reporting, placing students in classes while remaining in ratio standards, managing lists of student needs and health concerns, and creating and communicating clear program procedures (including attendance, dismissal protocols, and class structure). Meal Service Programs (5%): You will need to become trained in and successfully implement federal meal service programs such as CACFP, SFSP, and SFSP, ensuring compliance with all related guidelines. Data Management (5%): This covers routine data tracking and entry for required metrics, including enrollment and attendance, and assisting with reporting.
Staff & Program Development (20%)

A key part of the Coordinator's role is leading the program's staff and ensuring quality control:

Staff Management & Development (10%): You will spend time on recruiting, onboarding, and managing staff, which includes the essential tasks such as staff appreciation, timesheet approval, etc. You are responsible for ensuring the program is fully staffed and that you are available to substitute for classes as needed. Additionally, you are responsible for hosting leadership development and team building activities to foster a strong team, as well as participate in the district team's required meetings. Program Creation / Program Quality Assessments (5%): This allocation is dedicated to the development of new programs and the assessment of existing offerings to ensure high quality. Grant and District Goal Implementation (5%): You will be responsible for implementing specific grant and district goals and ensuring the program aligns with broader educational objectives.
Communication & Student Support (10%)

Effective communication and student well-being round out the daily responsibilities:

Communication & Outreach (5%): This requires daily communications with families, school staff, community partners, the bus company, and meal service providers to ensure smooth and coordinated operations. Behavior Management (5%): Time is allocated to proactively and reactively address student behaviors and concerns, working with staff and families to maintain a positive learning environment.

Skills & Qualifications Desired



To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following: Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong leadership skills and desire to learn Strong classroom and behavior management skills Strong time management and data processing skills Comfortability with Google Suite and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Docs, Sheets, etc.) Experience in program or class creation for school-aged children Reliable personal transportation (required for site travel, meetings, and program needs)
