Job Title: Class Instructor - Maker Space Elementary After-School Class

Job Summary:

Maker Labs is looking for a creative, energetic, and reliable

Class Instructor

to lead engaging, hands-on enrichment classes for elementary students (Grades K-5). This position is perfect for someone who loves to tinker, build, and inspire young minds through exploration and creativity. You'll guide students through fun, project-based activities that introduce basic STEM concepts, design thinking, and problem-solving--no engineering degree required!

Key Responsibilities:

Provide guidance for makerspace program activities such as simple circuits, cardboard construction, catapults, simple machines, and more. Foster a safe, encouraging, and inclusive space where young students can take creative risks, learn from mistakes, and explore new ideas. Introduce tools and materials with a strong emphasis on safety and responsibility (e.g., scissors, glue guns, tape measures, basic electronics, clean up). Manage group behavior using positive reinforcement and consistent routines. Prepare materials, set up workspaces, and clean up after each session. Track attendance and report any concerns to program staff. Communicate with director and parents as needed regarding student engagement or behavior.

Qualifications:

Experience working with elementary-age children in a school, camp, museum, or classroom setting preferred. Passion for making, building, crafting, or STEM-based learning. Comfortable managing a group of up to 15 students independently. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Must pass a background check and TB test (required). CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain a plus. Reliable transportation and punctuality.

Bonus Points For:

Experience with simple circuitry and electronics, and beginner-friendly tools. Tech crafts or DIY maker experience. Familiarity with social-emotional learning practices or growth mindset approaches.

Compensation:

up to $35 per hour, based on experience
