After School Substitute Instructor - Hiring for the upcoming Season

The key to our specialized curriculum is that it's designed to engage kids in a short period of time while still leaving them with a concrete understanding of important scientific and engineering concepts and ideas. In this fast-paced world of high-speed everything, we value high quality in-person interactions to produce a new generation of thinkers and a community engaged with science.

WHAT WE DO:

Love working with kids and having a blast? Professor Egghead Science Academy is an awesome after school program that makes science accessible, understandable, and fun for Kids ages 5-10. We run hands-on science classes, camps, workshops, and birthday parties for children at different locations all over CA.

Most programs are ONE HOUR after school and start around 2-4 PM

. Many days, but not all, have the option of back to back hours at a location. We're looking for AWESOME and ENTHUSIASTIC Professors for our program!

REQUIREMENTS:

1) Be FUN, have lots of ENERGY, and be POSITIVE. Improv Actors and those with outgoing personalities are perfect.

2) Have experience working with children.

3) Have a consistently reliable way to get to and from job sites in a timely manner and transport materials (usually in a 2 x 3ft rolling bin).

4) Be able to commit to an entire semester of classes, which is approximately 3 months depending on season: Winter (January-March); Spring (April-June); Summer (July-August); Fall (September-December).

5) Pass a background check.

You DO NOT need any background in science, just a great attitude, a natural curiosity and the ability to work well with children. We train you and training is paid!

For this specific position you must have general availability Monday through Friday 130p-6p. Typically, our regular professors will have between 3-5 1 hour sessions per week with 1 session each day scheduled for an afterschool program role. Totaling $75 each 1 hour session.

If hired for a Substitute role in this specific area, you must have general availability M-F 1-5p to act as a potential Substitute in the afterschool program. A substitute role does not have a specific schedule or guarantee of hours as the position is dependent upon covering when another Professor is not able to make it to their scheduled lesson(s) that day. However, there is always opportunity to transition into a regular role should sessions become available.

Pay:

Our

Lead Professor pay is $75 per 1 hour class

with an expectation of arrival of no less than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled class start time in order to allow time to park and set up your classroom and pick up your students on campus. All training is paid at a base rate of $25, and all materials and curriculum will be provided to you.

Assisting Roles

will be assisting a Lead Professor in sessions and the

pay is $60 per session for all Assisting roles.

If hired for a

Substitute Role, the pay is $100 per 1 hour class

, if you are able to cover for another professor.
