Quality Receiving Inspector


Full-Time | 40 hrs/week | Flexible schedule (preferred: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM)



A growing aerospace/precision manufacturer is seeking a hands-on

Quality Receiving Inspector

to manage the full Receiving Inspection (RI) process. This role serves as the on-site subject matter expert for all incoming parts, materials, and documentation, ensuring every product meets drawing, specification, purchase order, and certification requirements. The position also provides cross-training and support in the CMM lab to assist with dimensional inspection activities.

Key Responsibilities



Receiving Inspection (Primary Focus)



Perform visual, dimensional, and documentation inspections on incoming products, including machined components, raw materials, hardware, and special process returns. Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, PO requirements, and quality notes. Create and maintain work instructions for Receiving Inspection, including checklists, sampling plans, gage set-ups, and photo aids. Review, scan, and archive all incoming certifications (C of C, material test reports, special process certs, FAIR/PPAP documentation, test data). Ensure lot control and full traceability to customer and industry standards (AS13100, SABRe, S-1000, etc.). Identify and document nonconformances; work with suppliers to drive root cause and corrective action. Communicate with sub-tier suppliers to correct or replace inaccurate or incomplete certifications. Maintain a clean and organized inspection area, track daily throughput, and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

CMM & Quality Support (Secondary)



Operate CMM equipment (PC-DMIS or similar) to support first-article, in-process, and final dimensional inspections. Assist in creating or updating basic CMM programs, fixture set-ups, and reports. Support FAIR/PPAP data collection and documentation (Net-Inspect or similar tools). Collaborate with Quality Engineering on inspection planning, sampling strategies, and gage selection.

Required Qualifications



1-3+ years of receiving or dimensional inspection experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing. Strong blueprint reading skills and solid understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5). Proficiency with standard inspection tools (micrometers, height gages, bore gages, pins, thread gages, surface finish, etc.). Experience reviewing material and special process certifications (heat treat, plating, NDT, coatings) and Certificates of Conformance. Familiarity with FAIR/PPAP requirements and traceability practices. Strong documentation and computer skills (ERP/QA systems, scanning, archiving, Excel/SharePoint). Clear and professional communication with internal teams and outside suppliers.

Preferred Qualifications



CMM operation or programming experience (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar). Knowledge of AS9100/AS13100, SABRe, and NADCAP special process requirements. Experience with FAIR/PPAP tools such as Net-Inspect or InspectionXpert. Participation in RCCA methods (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) and MSA/GR&R studies. ERP experience (SyteLine, Visual, or similar).

Working Conditions



Standing, walking, and lifting up to ~30 lbs during inspection activities. Clean, well-organized inspection and CMM laboratory environments.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
