Job Description

The Advertising Planning Manager (APM) plays a key role in our National Sales Division, responsible for managing and processing ROP, Preprint, and Digital insertion orders for key national accounts across multiple markets. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, solid PC proficiency, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high attention to detail are essential.

The APM will work extensively in various systems to enter, research, verify, and update data. They will communicate rates, specs, impressions, availability, and deadlines to internal and external stakeholders, and provide market-specific information such as date options, zoning and zip code details, circulation projections, digital specs, special sections, and more.

This role requires coordinating with Sales, Finance, Pagination, and Production to confirm contracted rates, release ads, enter late ads, process client requests, fulfill affidavits, pull tear sheets, locate missing inserts, and upload digital creative. The APM will routinely work in multiple systems simultaneously to review, order, track, and upload insertion orders and related creative.



Job Requirements & Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or a minimum of three (3) years of equivalent work experience Previous experience managing ROP, Preprint, and Digital order entry Familiarity with newspaper terminology Strong accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Ability to work independently and collaboratively to support team and department objectives; cross-training within the department is required Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and make independent decisions within established guidelines Self-motivated, proactive, flexible, and accountable, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Must meet daily and weekly deadlines Experience with Phoenix, AdBase, Naviga, Affinity, Portal, and DOMO is a plus Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, and general PC usage
