The Advanced Practice Quality Champion (APCQC) will serve as a quality champion to ensure employed clinics reach 5 + star on all HEDIS measures across all clinics. They will assist in supporting process improvement projects aimed at improving patient outcomes as measures by HEDIS measures, CAPHS, and HOS.
This position is 90 percent clinical outpatient and 10 percent quality administrative tasks with no direct reports. The administrative work is done during work hours in clinic. The administrative time will be a total of 4 hours a week, that can be in two 2-hour blocks or one 4-hour block.
Position Highlights & Primary Responsibilities:

  • Improving HEDIS measures across assigned clinics in Arizona
  • Supporting assigned clinics on HEIDS action plans
  • Collaborating with Value-Based Governance Committee on initiatives
  • Working on assigned care gaps for assigned clinics
  • Collaborating with physician leaders to support improvements in patient outcomes
  • Participates in developing and implementing organization specific initiatives around coding, documentation, HEDIS, and CAHPS/HOS
  • Participates in monthly meetings with physician and operations leadership
  • Participates in various committees as assigned
  • Develops and promotes organization's culture
  • Active contributor on clinic team huddles
  • Performance is measured by HEDIS/CAHPS/HOS improvements in assigned division and/or staying on glidepath to end of year goals on these metrics
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Must have an active and unrestricted medical license in the State of Arizona or ability to obtain prior to employment
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification through AANC or AANP, or Physician Assistant national certification through NCCPA
  • BLS must be up to date
  • 1+ years of experience in outpatient primary care medicine
  • Demonstrated appropriate leadership potential
  • Knowledge of primary care operations, consensus building, and collaborative ability
  • Knowledge of HEDIS measures, CAHPS, and HOS
  • Knowledge of Optum cultural values
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in medical utilization management, medical quality assurance, quality improvement techniques, risk management, and compliance
The salary range for this role is $104,500 to $156,000 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
