The University of Virginia Health System is seeking a compassionate and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP)--Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)--to join our Rhinology team within the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. The APP will work alongside two experienced rhinology specialists and will be integral in the care for adult and pediatric otolaryngology patients. Our rhinology team is specially trained and experienced in providing comprehensive care, including evaluation, diagnosis, management and treatment of all diseases of the nose and sinuses, including chronic and recurrent sinusitis, nasal polyps, rhinitis, allergy, epistaxis, smell and taste disorders, cerebrospinal fluid leaks, pituitary and skull base surgery, as well as tumors of the nose and sinuses.
This is a clinical position that includes both independent and team-based care with a pathway toward increased autonomy based on training, experience, and clinical competency. The successful applicant will be interested in working both independently and collaborating closely with attending physicians to evaluate and manage patients in an ambulatory setting as well as coordinating multidisciplinary care with colleagues in ophthalmology, neurosurgery, and other specialties as needed. This role provides a unique opportunity to develop deep expertise in complex diseases of the nose and sinuses and skull base conditions within an academic and supportive environment.
As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care at an advanced practice level to patients and their families through assessment, communication, clinical management, collaboration, coordination, education, program development, research, quality, professional development, and system participation.
Preferred qualifications include 1-2 years of experience in ENT, primary care, or surgical specialty is helpful though new graduates with related experience will also be considered. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of healthcare systems, leadership abilities, and prior experience with quality improvement efforts.

Beyond the qualities included in the general position description, success as a Rhinology APP will require the following:
Knowledge, experience and comfortability to independently treat a wide range of nasal and sinus conditions in patients of all ages
Performing and documenting histories and physical exams, ordering tests, developing comprehensive treatment plans, prescribing medications
Conduct new patient evaluations, medical and surgical follow-ups, and symptom-based consultations.
Exceptional communication with patients, team members, and otolaryngology colleagues
Self-motivated learning, engagement in process and quality improvement initiatives
Educate and counsel patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, post-operative care, and preventive care.
Participate in multidisciplinary care coordination with ophthalmology, neurosurgery, and other specialties.
Engage in quality improvement initiatives and practice-based learning activities.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EPIC).
Participate in clinical teaching of medical students and residents as appropriate.
