Responsibilities

The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that includes ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self-evaluation, leadership, and research. The APN is self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency.

The APN in the Vascular Practice utilizes critical judgment in the performance of comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of patients diagnosed with a variety of vascular conditions/diseases. The APN practice will promote wellness through conducting research, providing education and works autonomously as well as in interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

A current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in the State of New Jersey is required. Completion of an educational program which is designed and conducted to prepare graduates to practice as an NP/APN with a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in nursing and certified by a national certifying body required. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving are essential. A minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience and current American Heart Association BLS certification are required.
