Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for three Admissions Recruiters.

Position Description Summary

Henry Ford College Admissions Recruiters play a vital role in recruiting and admitting students of all ages and life stages who will thrive and succeed at the College and reach their educational and life goals. Our professional Admissions Recruiters work as a team and individually to build partnerships with community organizations and schools as well as individual students, families, and community members. The Admissions Recruiters actively engage prospective students on relevant programs and co-curricular opportunities offered by HFC and guide them through the admissions and enrollment process. Admissions Recruiters regularly plan and attend recruiting and admissions-support events on-site, off-site, and virtually. Hours: 40 hours/week, generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. M-F. Some evenings and weekends are required. Multiple openings will be filled under this single posting.

Some hybrid work may be available as determined by the division Vice President. Schedule changes will be determined and finalized with a supervisor at the time of hire and may change based on departmental needs and the College\'s operations. Recruiters must live within reasonable proximity to our Dearborn, Michigan main campus.

  • Bachelor\'s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in business, education, marketing and communications, higher education administration, student development, human services, or related field.
  • One or more years of relevant experience including one of the following or equivalent:
  • Experience working directly with high school counselors and students.
  • Experience in college admissions, recruiting, or other direct student services.
  • Demonstrated experience providing high-quality customer service.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be personable, energetic, and service-focused.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment, be flexible, adaptable, and creative in a rapidly changing environment, and work well under pressure in a time-sensitive, results-driven environment.
  • Must successfully work independently and in active teams providing services in a remote, hybrid, and in-person environment.
  • High comfort level with change and frequent interaction within and beyond the institution.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess student situations and make well-informed decisions to resolve student concerns and problems with minimal assistance from managers or directors.
  • Understanding of a team-based culture in an environment that actively values and strives toward Advancing Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (ABIDE).
  • Cross-cultural competency and cultural humility that recognizes, values, and advances the cultural assets and multiple forms of human diversity that enrich our local and broader communities.

  • Available to work outside of standard business hours for scheduled events and activities (extra time will be compensated via flex time or overtime).
  • If hybrid work is considered suitable for this role and is permitted by the employee\'s supervisor and Vice President: Must have access to computing and communications technology at home. Per the College\'s hybrid work policy, all equipment used to facilitate any permitted hybrid work must be obtained and maintained by the employee.
  • Good driving record, and must have access to a personal vehicle to allow for regular work-related travel to schools and community locations throughout Southeast Michigan. (The Recruiter will receive mileage reimbursement for documented work-related travel).
  • Proficient in standard business programs which may include Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Physical requirements: Recruiter must have the ability to:
  • Sit or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Operate a computer for multiple business tasks and video meetings.
  • Transport self as well as transport, carry and distribute collateral materials and branded merchandise/materials to on-campus and off-site locations.
  • Drive a personal vehicle throughout the Southeast Michigan region.
  • Set up items such as pop-up displays, tents/tables, and related display materials with or without assistance.
The most successful candidate might have a career that would include one or more of the following:
  • Experience with a higher-education CRM system such as Ellucian Recruit.
  • Experience with audience-targeted marketing tools such as social media, MailChimp, presentation software, Canva, etc.
  • Experience recruiting in specific communities, such as Latinx, BIPOC, or MENA communities.
  • Fluency in languages other than English, such as Spanish or Arabic.
  • Master\'s degree in relevant field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Meet assigned goals for target recruiting area.
  • Travel (mostly local, daytime travel) on behalf of the College for recruiting and other events.
  • Develop effective presentation tools and techniques for recruiting; speak publicly to individuals and groups on-campus, off-campus, and utilizing remote technologies such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Promptly respond to inquiries from potential students interested in HFC and provide accurate, personally relevant information about academic programs, the enrollment process and available services.
  • Follow up with potential students at various points in the enrollment cycle (prospect, applicant, admitted but not enrolled) to assist and encourage them to advance to the next steps in the enrollment process.
  • Serve as primary liaison between the college and high school counselors within assigned high school recruiting territory.
  • Direct students to appropriate resources to resolve any issues or concerns uncovered during the follow-up process.
  • Learn and effectively utilize available technology to enhance admissions and student recruiting.
  • Develop and coordinate on-campus, off-campus, and remote events designed to engage prospective students, families, communities, counselors, and other audiences with the college.
  • Remain updated on HFC programs and requirements for admission, completion, or transfer.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications department in the development of marketing and appropriate giveaway materials for target audiences.
  • Collaborate with all campus departments and personnel to enhance the recruiting and admission of various student populations (i.e. traditional, non-traditional, domestic, international, business/industry, Latinx, BIPOC, MENA, etc.)
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Admissions and Recruiting department\'s recruiting and marketing plan.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the department\'s communication plan to prospective and admitted students.
  • Assist with Admissions application/document processing where appropriate.
  • Develop and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruiting strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
