The Early Childhood Education and Care Department was established on July 1, 2020. The Department's aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need.

Why does the job exist?



This position will provide quality customer service to internal and external customers and provide office and administrative support to the Child Care Regional offices. This will include, but not limited to, greeting and serving customers, providing the public with information about the program and assisting them in completing forms and applications, answering phones, screening documents, scheduling and coordinating appointments, meetings, trainings, facilities, distributing correspondence and other activities for the team. This position will also process and distribute mail, maintain, and organize paper and electronic files and maintain forms, spreadsheets, and reports. This position will research and maintain the office inventory supplies and office equipment for the region. This position will process financial documents, travel reimbursements, and maintain respective logs. They will serve as vehicle coordinator for the region by overseeing the preventative maintenance and repairs of vehicles, assign/rotate vehicles, and process reports. Travel will be required to support regional offices and other clerical projects or duties as needed to support the region.

This position requires strong customer service skills in a high volume, fast-paced environment. This position must have comprehensive knowledge of policies and procedures. This position must have the ability to learn processes and maintain an orderly flow of appointments. This position also requires extensive use of computers, various databases and they must have the ability to multi-task and to work independently in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualification



Eighth grade education.

Employment Requirements



Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions



Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Direct client interaction and some travel may be required.
