Description of Work

This position is with the Pesticides Section within the Structural Pest Control & Pesticides Division. The primary purpose of the Pesticides Section is to protect public health, safety and welfare, and promote continued environmental quality by minimizing and managing risks associated with the legal use of pesticides through the administration and enforcement of the NC Pesticide Law of 1971 and pursuant regulations adopted by the Pesticide Board.

The Outreach Coordinator provides critical support throughout all three of the Division\'s Sections: Pesticides, Structural Pest Control, and Sleep Products, as well as functioning within the Division\'s Administrative Team, in meeting the Division\'s goals of informing the public through outreach work. This position will work with the unit managers to properly reflect their unit\'s mission. This position will coordinate with NCDA&CS composition and the print shop to achieve aesthetically pleasing and informative displays and brochures that educate the citizens of North Carolina about current topics of interest and safety while keeping in line with the mission statements of our three sections. This position provides backup support daily to the Division\'s Receptionist and the Steve Troxler Agricultural Sciences Center\'s Receptionist. Outreach responsibilities will require some weekends during the month of October at the North Carolina State Fair. Occasional backup for the mail run. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Experience using a multi-line phone system.
  • Experience creating PowerPoint presentations.+
  • Must possess a valid NC Driver\'s license within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to muti-task
  • Ability to create fliers and announcements with photos or stock images.
MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES:
  • Ability to edit photographs.
  • Knowledge of purchasing procedures and e-procurement.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
