Description of Work Position will provide administrative support to the Division Roadside Environmental Engineer in various duties. These duties include typing, filing, copying, answering telephone and directing calls. Create and manage requisitions and process invoices. Take meeting minutes and prepare correspondence as needed, while meeting deadlines. Administer payroll/time entry in SAP system. Manage inventory for office equipment/supplies (order/receive/dispense). Maintain an assortment of files, answer telephones and deal with the public to provide customer service. Position will serve as Division Adopt-A-Highway Coordinator. Duties include processing new AAH applications, assisting AAH volunteers with facilitating and reporting litter pickups. Must have knowledge and experience with office equipment and related computer technology (Microsoft Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SAP). This position requires work during any adverse weather such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural disasters, which can lead to extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays. Ability to operate a motor vehicle will be needed.
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor. This position will be based at the Roadside Environmental Unit office in Greenville NC.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC08 / Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120
Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues
  • Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel
  • Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports
  • Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws
  • Experience in record keeping
Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
