Description of Work Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120
Reporting to the Administrative Officer II, this position is primarily responsible for human resource and fiscal functions in the Administrative Services section of a Medium Custody Correctional Facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Providing centralized recruitment services for the assigned classifications and sections within the Department of Adult Correction, including recruitment on Workday, scheduling and coordinating interviews, processing hiring packages, ensuring that all required documents are completed, and that the position is filled or otherwise closed.
- Serving and maintaining confidentiality as a Benefits and Leave resource to new and/or current employees to ensure benefits are administered correctly and current data is disseminated to employees.
- Reviewing and processing Leave of Absence (LOA) packages and Worker's Compensation claims for employees within purview and explaining processes and procedures to affected employees and supervisors.
- Auditing time and leave to ensure employee payroll issues are resolved promptly and accurately.
- Compiling, maintaining, and organizing files, records, logs, and reports, both hard and electronic copies, and tracking data.
- Performing fiscal functions at the facility, such as offender banking, purchasing, accounts payable, and budget monitoring.
Reviewing all invoices for local purchases to ensure compliance with rules and policies governing outside purchases.
- Assisting the Administrative Officer II in the preparation of periodic budget requests and providing information as requested on the financial implications of policy decisions.
- Assisting with equipment and inventory control for the facility, compiling and monitoring motor vehicles and travel logs for all department vehicles and DOA vehicles, and processing expense vouchers submitted by staff to ensure compliance with policy guidelines.
- Problem solving and interpreting various policies and procedures. Functioning independently, possessing good communication skills (both verbally and written), and working under pressure to meet various types of deadlines/requirements.
- Serving as back-up to the Administrative Officer II, as needed.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

  • Documented knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and practices
  • Experience applying selected policy, procedures, and regulations to personnel/HR related transactions
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using Microsoft Word

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
