Job Overview

:



The

Administrative Officer

position for the Department of Justice Montana Highway Patrol provides a range of professional administrative services and resource allocation including budgeting and fiscal management, and a variety of other duties in support of ongoing Division operations and activities. The Administrative Officer will be a key member of the management team so the ability to evaluate operations, make guided and accurate decisions, and plan for long range projects and operations is necessary.



This position will be based in either Helena or Boulder, with regular time spent between both locations.



This position supervises 2 FTE.

Minimum Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in business or related field. Five years of experience in the agency services or related field. Two years of supervisory experience. Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications:



Experience as an office manager, budget or fiscal in a law enforcement environment.




To perform successfully in this position, the incumbent must be self-motivated; possess a strong work ethic; and maintain a positive attitude. Strong communication skills are required. The incumbent is expected to make decisions based on the relative costs and benefits of potential actions; resolve operational issues; elevate matters as necessary; recommend solutions; and effectively implement division changes and management directives. The incumbent is required to exercise discretion and judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information.




The position requires knowledge of the concepts and theories of business management principles; basic accounting principles and practices; operational and program budgeting and revenue projection techniques; customer services standards; effective business communication strategies; and inventory control.
