About the Department

As one of the largest graduate programs on CMU's campus, the office of the Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy (DPT) is very busy. The number of students enrolled in the program each year ranges from 150 -180 students. There are currently 11 full-time faculty members assigned to the department, with 2 part-time off-campus faculty who assist with clinical education experiences. In addition to the full-time faculty, the department employs between 4-8 adjunct faculty per semester to assist with laboratory courses. The Doctoral Program is a 12 month program; therefore students are on campus year round.

The department employs two administrative assistants who share the physical therapy office. One person is the executive secretary, who assists the Department Chair and faculty in day-to-day operations of the program. The second individual's primary duty is to assist the Director of Clinical Education in coordinating the clinical education experiences of students during their first- and third-year clinical experiences. Additional duties for this individual include assisting with program assessment and accreditation activities for the department.
