Description of Work The Alcoholic Beverage Control Act approved by the General Assembly of 1937 provided for the establishment of a State Board of Control consisting of a Chairman and two associate members appointed by the Governor. The State Board of Control is today known as the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission (ABC Commission) and has all the powers and authority in the General Statutes 18B-203. The overall objective of the Commission is to provide uniform control over the sale, purchase, transportation, manufacture, advertising, consumption, and possession of alcoholic beverages in the State. In addition to administering and regulating the laws established by the General Assembly, the Commission has the authority to adopt, amend, and repeal rules to carry out its objective. Examples of duties include the following:
1. Issuance of all alcohol permits for commercial and retail activity;
2. Prosecution and imposing of sanctions against permit holders that violate the ABC laws and the Commission rules;
3. Approval of all alcoholic beverages products that are sold in the state and;
4. Oversight authority over county and municipal ABC Boards in the state
The ABC Commission is a self-supported agency with a special operating fund created in 1982 to carry out its mission. The Commission supports the State's General Fund with deposits from collected fees and excise taxes
This position is responsible for converting paper documents into digital form using scanning equipment. The position's duties include receiving, scanning, and indexing documents, verifying and uploading documents into databases, and storing and retrieving all work files and records. The position will manage and store files on a computer and in the ABC Commission's CODA system. The position will also regularly inspect the output quality of the documents and rescan any documents that show low image quality or improper alignment. The position will also report concerns and issues with the scanning equipment to the manager. The position will conduct compliance checks on documentation to ensure they are coded and referenced correctly for scanning. The position will perform some administrative and clerical work.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range is $28,194 - $41,000
Management Preferences:
Experience filing systems and methodologies. Advanced skill in the use of word processing and file storage software.
Experience gathering information and organize it in an orderly fashion
Proficient in keyboarding and Microsoft Office programs.
Experience preparing documents in alphabetical order and collate.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience;
