The Administrative Assistant supports the Daycare Director in the daily operation, administration, and supervision of a licensed childcare center. This role helps ensure compliance with Michigan childcare licensing rules, supports staff performance and development, maintains high-quality programming, and fosters a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children and families.

Key Responsibilities
Program & Operations Support
Assist in overseeing daily center operations to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient functioning
Support implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom activities
Help maintain compliance with Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers
Assist with staff scheduling, classroom coverage, and ratio compliance
Serve as Director-in-Charge when the Director is absent.
Licensing & Compliance
Assist with maintaining accurate child, staff, and center records
Help prepare for licensing inspections, fire inspections, and health department visits
Ensure policies related to health, safety, discipline, and supervision are followed consistently
Support implementation of emergency procedures and safety drills
Family & Community Relations
Serve as a point of contact for families, addressing questions or concerns professionally
Support family engagement initiatives and clear communication
Assist with enrollment, tours, and orientation for new families
Always maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Background knowledge or experience in childcare
preferred
Meets Michigan childcare licensing requirements for an Assistant to Director role
Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in a licensed child care setting preferred
Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Current CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen training (or willingness to obtain)
