ABOUT THE ROLE



POAH Communities is seeking a highly qualified professional to serve as a

Administrative Assistant

to support the property management team. This individual will perform general clerical tasks, help manage the property management office, receive calls, take messages and route correspondence as well as contribute to small-scale projects.
The Kenmore Abbey Apartments is a 199-unit senior rental community in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston, located steps away from Fenway Park. The historic property was constructed as a hotel in the late 1890s and was converted to its current use in 1984. Kenmore Abbey comprises two brownstone buildings that are architecturally significant and are connected by a footbridge between their second floors. Kenmore Abbey is a 100% senior Section 8 property with a very strong waiting list for occupancy.
Kenmore Abbey is one of the six Massachusetts properties acquired by Preservation of Affordable Housing from State Street Development Corporation in the summer of 2012. Kenmore Abbey's proximity to Boston University and Fenway Park made it susceptible to market rate conversion in 2014 when restrictions would have expired.

ABOUT YOUR IMPACT



Reporting to the Property Manager, the successful candidate will thrive in a team oriented environment and should possess the following:
Strong organizational skills and ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail and accuracy Solid verbal, written and customer service communication skills Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software (Microsoft Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) Project coordination experience and following-through on projects to successful completion Confidence in creating effective solutions for how to deal with challenges or problems Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures Knowledge of property management, real estate or affordable housing a plus Flexibility, positive attitude, team orientation and willingness to learn are a must Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, outside clients and vendors Sensitivity to confidential resident matters may be required

Perform administrative and office support activities Maintain data and supporting information in internal property management database system Receive and distribute mail to appropriate personnel Seek opportunities to enhance communications and to build collaborative relationships with supervisors and colleagues. Complete other tasks assigned by the Property Management
