Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Adjunct Instructor to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in higher education teaching and demonstrate a passion for facilitating adult learning. This role involves delivering engaging course content, fostering a supportive learning environment, and utilizing innovative teaching methods to enhance student success.

Duties

Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with course objectives and enhances student learning experiences. Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas to facilitate course delivery and manage student interactions. Conduct lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities to engage students in the learning process. Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and projects while providing constructive feedback. Incorporate research and current trends within the field into course materials to ensure relevance. Support students by providing academic guidance and resources, including library services and additional learning technology tools. Foster an inclusive classroom environment that accommodates diverse learning styles and backgrounds. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development initiatives.

Experience

MUST HAVE COMPLETED AT LEAST 18 CREDIT HOURS IN SOCIOLOGY AT GRADUATE LEVEL OR ABOVE. Proven experience in teaching at the university level or in adult education settings is preferred. Strong writing skills for developing course materials and assessments. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including bilingual education or creative writing instruction. Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts in an understandable manner. Background in social work or related fields can be beneficial for understanding student needs.
