Job Summary
To teach undergraduate Biology and Biology-related courses in the Department of Biological Sciences
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The Adjunct Biology Instructor will teach introductory biology, general microbiology, human anatomy & physiology, or closely related courses, assess student learning, maintain student records, hold appropriate office hours, and submit academic records to the department and registrar's office. The position requirements are as follows:

Be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office, Banner, Zoom, and Canvas
Essential Job Functions
Demonstrate knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching adult students; instruct, manage, motivate, mentor, evaluate and advise them;
Interact with students in an appropriate, professional manner;
Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course;
Help students reach their academic, personal, and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects diversity, modeling respect and conveying confidence in every student's ability to learn;
Comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, student performance data, attendance policies, textbook choices, and assessments;
Attend classes regularly, maintain active syllabi, and return reports, credentials, and other requested documents promptly;
Maintain effective written and communication with chair or designee;
Comply with all legal and ethical obligations, including FERPA, ADA, and other regulatory legislation;
Participate in training/workshops that are mandated for instructors.
Commit to furthering the mission, goals, and values of the Department of Biological Sciences and Alcorn State University.
Active participation in student recruitment and retention.
Qualifications
The applicant must have an M. S. in Biology or a closely related area, or a higher degree in the area.
Experience teaching at the college level .
Working knowledge of standard learning management systems such as BANNER and CANVAS.
Be proficient with standard office applications on personal computers.
Licensing and Certifications
Authorization to work in the United States.
