Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Administrative provides continual RN coverage to ensure that interventions outlined in the registrant care plans are carried out properly. Consults with staff and physicians to ensure quality is given to registrants. Works under the direction of the Program Director and/or Patient Care Coordinator.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the nursing needs as outlined in the treatment plan are identified and the plan of intervention implemented.
  • Documents nursing interventions in the appropriate progress notes, dating and signing each entry.
  • Performs nursing procedures, as ordered by the physician, documenting the procedure and the registrant\'s response in the progress note.
  • Monitors registrant\'s medical status, observes for changes, and reports status changes to Patient Care Coordinator.
  • Assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
  • Communicates with caregivers and community agencies as necessary to ensure good Registrant care.
  • Monitors quality of nursing care performed by nursing staff; make recommendations to improve registrant care.
  • Monitors registrants at mealtimes and throughout the day.
  • Keeps the Program Director informed of any unusual matters.
  • Promotes Program to support increasing daily census.
  • Exhibits genuine interest in and appreciation of adults in later years of life.
  • Complies with Infection Control, OSHA, and Fire Safety.
  • Organizes workload so that all functions are completed appropriately.
  • Reports any Registrants, staff or administrative problem to Patient Care Coordinator or Program Director and assists in the resolution of problem.
  • Participates in hospital sponsored and nursing home events.
  • Responsible for professional growth and development through continuing education classes, seminars, professional societies and journals.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements, and Adult Day Health Care policy and procedures.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies including ethical business.
  • Demonstrates professional behavior by awareness of personal responsibility and accountability for professional practice and growth of self, others, and the nursing profession.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience in a home care setting, community health or outpatient facility.
  • Ability to handle stressful and unpredictable situations.
  • Organizational skills.
PREFERRED:
  • Prior experience with the elderly.
Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:
  • Registered Nurse Licensure in New York State
  • CPR certification
