Duties
Plan, organize, and execute engaging activities that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and health conditions, including memory care and dementia-specific programs
Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to develop personalized activity plans that support residents' physical, emotional, and social needs
Lead recreational therapy sessions focused on enhancing cognitive function, mobility, and emotional health
Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a balanced mix of events throughout the week
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as mobility exercises or social participation to promote independence
Coordinate special events, outings, and community engagement initiatives that foster social connections within the community
Maintain detailed records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness
Skills
Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or nursing home settings with a focus on senior care or long-term care environments
Strong knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care strategies, dementia care best practices, and recreational therapy techniques
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents of varying abilities and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
Ability to manage multiple schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs
Compassionate caregiving skills with experience assisting residents with ADLs and supporting aging issues counseling
Familiarity with working with people with disabilities and providing inclusive activities that promote independence and engagement
Solid background in social work or related fields emphasizing senior care, home & community care experience, or aging issues management
Bachelor's degree in recreation or related field with one-year related experience and/or
Associate degree in recreation or related field with related work experience OR
3-5 years full-time experience working with adult recreation.
Experience and Knowledge in of senior living, including assisted living, Memory care, and
Knowledge of and/or ability to quickly master an understanding of related regulatory and compliance requirements required.
Experience in recruiting, training, and managing people preferred.
Working knowledge of computers including Excel, Word, and MS Office.
Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
Must possess valid driver's license.
