We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Director to lead engaging programs and activities for residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, dementia and Alzheimer's care, and recreational therapy, with a passion for enhancing quality of life through meaningful engagement. This role requires excellent communication skills, creativity, and the ability to coordinate diverse activities tailored to residents' needs and interests.
Duties
Plan, organize, and oversee a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and physical well-being for residents.
Develop activity calendars that include events such as arts and crafts, music therapy, outings, games, and special celebrations.
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, providing support with mobility and personal care.
Manage schedules for activities and coordinate with staff to ensure smooth execution of programs.
Foster an inclusive environment by working with residents with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia or memory loss.
Counsel residents on aging issues and provide emotional support to enhance their overall well-being.
Collaborate with caregiving staff, social workers, and family members to tailor activities that meet individual needs and preferences.
Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and progress in activity programs.
Ensure safety protocols are followed during all activities and outings.
Qualifications
Proven experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or long-term care environments.
Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, or senior care.
Knowledge of caregiving techniques and assisting residents with ADLs.
Excellent communication skills to engage residents effectively and work collaboratively with staff and families.
Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs.
Experience working with people with disabilities or cognitive impairments is highly desirable.
Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in improving the quality of life for seniors.
Relevant certifications or training in social work, aging issues counseling, or related fields are preferred but not required.
