*This is a traveling position amongst our 5 locations Williamston, South Lyon, Milford and 2 Northville Homes each week.

Overview


We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Coordinator to join the team at AFC Homes. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for residents by planning and implementing engaging recreational activities tailored to their needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care facilities, with a focus on dementia and Alzheimer's care. Strong communication skills and a passion for working with individuals with disabilities are essential to foster a supportive and stimulating environment for our residents.

Responsibilities



Develop, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical well-being for residents. Coordinate with staff to ensure activities align with individual care plans and address specific needs related to memory care, dementia, or other health issues. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during activities to promote independence and comfort. Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of planned events and flexibility for spontaneous engagement opportunities. Provide counseling and support related to aging issues, fostering a positive environment that encourages participation and emotional well-being. Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals, and community resources to enhance activity offerings and resident engagement. Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and feedback to continually improve program quality.

Experience



Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or long-term care settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in event planning, recreational therapy, or social work within senior or disability care populations. Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, memory care strategies, and caregiving best practices. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or those requiring assistance with ADLs. Strong communication skills essential for engaging residents effectively and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Background in home & community care or aging issues counseling is advantageous. Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
