Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging activities for participants in a Adult Day Program setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for individuals, particularly those with dementia and disabilities. This role is essential in promoting social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being through recreational therapy and planned events.

Responsibilities

Assist in the planning and implementation of daily activities and events tailored to the interests and abilities of residents. Facilitate group activities, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and exercise programs. Provide one-on-one support to residents who may require additional assistance or encouragement to participate. Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure that activities are aligned with residents' care plans. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants. Document participation levels and feedback from residents to help improve future programming. Engage with families to encourage their involvement in activities and events.

Experience

Previous experience in caregiving or working within long-term care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is preferred. Familiarity with dementia care practices and recreational therapy techniques is highly desirable. Skills in event planning and organization are beneficial for creating engaging programs. A compassionate approach towards individuals with disabilities, ensuring their dignity and respect at all times. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with residents, families, and staff members.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
