Summary



As the Activities Aide, this position is responsible for assisting and supporting the residents and staff in the nursing home by providing events and activities for the betterment of the physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being of the residents.

Responsibilities



Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Weston County Health Services (WCHS). Assists in planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly activities to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation. Assists in implementing activities that accommodate those with special needs. Assists in handling logistics to make activities possible such as managing inventory, training and motivating volunteers or employees. Observes participants at activities to gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve. Assists in maintaining records regarding activities planning resources, participant interest, and other notable information, such as injuries or behavioral incidents. Reports medical concerns or observations. Ensures that activities are well-provisioned, staff is trained and prepared, and that the activity takes place on time. Provides participants with instructions for activities. Adheres to and enforces all safety procedures. Coordinates with medical staff and other departments to ensure efficiency. Attends and participates in staff meetings and other assigned meetings. Adheres to accreditation and compliance standard guidelines. Assists in completing required reports, program reviews and preparation. Utilizes good communication skills to maintain positive relationships with clients, providers, co-workers and other sections in the organization and with other facilities in the community. Maintains a professional, organized and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards. Completes Work Assignments in a timely manner. Assists visitors with directions whenever requested. Always introduces self to patients, residents, families, and visitors when appropriate. Reports safety hazards as appropriate. Replenishes supplies as needed. Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions. Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties. Has the ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision. Observes safety-precautions. Has the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Has the ability to read and understand equipment operation manual. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations, and interdepartmental objectives. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, trainings, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education and learning.

Qualifications



High School Diploma or equivalent Has and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Strong written and oral communication skills Preferred to obtain Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification within one year from the start of employment as an Activities Aide.

Physical Requirements



Must be able to access, find, and navigate each department at WCHS. Position requires moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry. Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.

Pay: $15.84 - $21.12 per hour
