Job Summary

Collaborates with operational and executive leadership ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies to include, but not limited to: Department of Health (DOH), Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Conditions of Participation, and standards of The Joint Commission (TJC). The Accreditation Specialist works with staff, evaluating care, to ensure regulatory compliance. Evaluates patient safety systems ensuring safe reliable care. Promotes systems designed to reduce the opportunity for human failure in order to achieve a goal of zero harm. Understands and supports an organizational culture of safety. Participates in robust process improvement, utilizing a systematic approach to change management, focused on reducing patient safety and regulatory risk. Supports process change from education through sustainability. Collaborates with all levels of leadership to communicate needs and remove barriers for staff. Guides regulatory perspective to committees as applicable. Requires a self-motivated individual who values patient and staff safety as the top organizational priority. Knowledge and/or an interest in safe systems and High Reliability Organizations necessary.

Travel required 1 2 times per year to other Sanford facilities in the tri-state area. Length of travel would be between 2 - 5 days.

Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree required. In lieu of education, leadership may consider an Associate\'s degree and 5 years of applicable experience. If degree is in nursing, graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program, including but not limited to, Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

Minimum of two years of experience in clinical, nursing, healthcare safety, accreditation or healthcare management setting required.

Minimum of two years experience in operational process improvement, clinical, or healthcare management setting preferred.

Certification in regulatory accreditation, patient safety or quality specialty or equivalent required within three years of hire date. must obtain within three years of hire date. If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Quality improvement/assurance personnel with nursing backgrounds can maintain their license without seeking additional hours based on role\'s responsibilities.
